My name is Tricia Buck. I teach English at Turpin High School in the Forest Hills School District in Cincinnati, Ohio. I love my life, adore my husband and three children, and feel extremely fortunate to be a 21st century learner alongside my students.
This blog is intended to be my reflection and record of life on my path as learner, teacher, traveler, wife, mother, and friend. The inspiration to take the first step came largely from Will Richardson, whose visit to my school a few years ago opened my eyes. As a team leader in the Illinois-Ohio Cohort of Powerful Learning Practice with Will and Sheryl Nussbaum-Beach for 2008-09 I am continually inspired and remain committed to keeping my eyes, mind, and heart open…
I believe greatly in the power of networking with other passionate learners and thinkers. I am triciabuck on twitter and I welcome your follow!
The tagline for my blog, “If you are a dreamer, come in…” is painted on the back wall of my classroom, B304, where each student can see it upon entering. I seek to invite my students to dream, and to join me on the exciting journey of learning. The line comes from Shel Silverstein, my very first poet inspiration, in his poem Invitation featured below:
INVITATION
If you are a dreamer, come in.
If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar,
A hope-er, a pray-er, a magic bean buyer . . .
If you’re a pretender, come sit by my fire,
For we have some flax golden tales to spin.
Come in!
Come in!
You are an amazing teacher, inspired student, and spiritual seeker. Your courage to chart a course into an “unknown” makes me take stock of my own presumed fears and challenge myself to travel to places I have not before ventured. I am so very proud of you.
Continue to lead. Continue to believe.
Thank you, Tricia.

I love your words AND photograph! Approaching each day as a journey makes our trip to Berlin, Prague, and the Alps seem like just another step on the path….okay, a really big step! I always look forward to time spent with you and thoroughly enjoyed yesterday. Thanks, Andrea

I discovered your blog through the VLE and was excited when I saw your tagline. I also believe in encouraging my students to dream and it’s very obvious when you enter my room. The power of dreams at any age is amazing!
Great job on the blog!

Tricia,
Optimism is what drives learning. Without it, the flame is snuffed. Clearly, you are an igniter. Glad you are in my PLN!
